Lykins Queen City Propane
Profile of a Successful Co-Branding Initiative
In 2024, when the owners of Queen City Propane in Amelia, Ohio, decided to retire after nearly 20 years, they connected with the team at EDP. Lykins Propane in Milford, Ohio, had recently been acquired by EDP and the two companies’ customer service areas – in and around Cincinnati – overlapped.
Because Lykins had grown considerably over the course of its 75 years in operation, it naturally had a more extensive set of systems and procedures in place. So, in order to provide an enhanced customer service experience to Queen City customers – while also increasing the efficiencies of both operations – it made perfect sense to co-brand the two businesses.
Paige O’Dell, Vice President of EDP’s Central Region, oversaw the integration of the Lykins and Queen City operations. Within about three weeks, Queen City customers were benefiting from a state-of-the-art website – with the ability to order and pay online – along with access to a Budget Payment plan and the convenience of a new mobile app. And both companies were quickly able to benefit from enhanced efficiencies in delivery routing and scheduling. “With the help of a great employee team, the integration process went extremely well and everyone is enjoying a smoother, more efficient operation,” said O’Dell.
